Departments

Departments group subscriptions by the team paying for them, which drives filtering, reporting, and department-scoped access.

A department is how Resubly answers who a subscription belongs to. Every contract can carry one, and so can every team member.

What they are used for

  • Filtering and grouping subscriptions, so Finance can look at one team at a time.
  • Scoping access. Department admins and department viewers only see their own department contracts, which is how you give an IT lead ownership of IT renewals without exposing every contract in the company.
  • Understanding where the spend actually sits.

Setting them up

  1. Open settings and go to Departments.
  2. Add a department for each team that buys software. Start with the ones that actually hold contracts rather than mapping your whole org chart.
  3. Set the department on each subscription, or map a Department column when you import a CSV.
